Try the following.......

First, to get you back into you mail, search for / create a shortcut and run nlnotes.exe

The description of your problem sounds like a process ( eg ntaskdr.exe) "running away", so check via the processes.

If it is ntaskdr.exe consuming the CPU, try one of the following:

Assuming you mail file has a FTI, delete then recreate the index.
or
Delete your local replica, pull a new one, apply n8 template and re-index
